Susan G Komen Walk

This past Saturday was the annual Susan G Komen 5K Breast Cancer walk in Indianapolis. Like the last several years, we walked as a family once again. Our family keeps getting bigger and bigger. We walk to celebrate Ricky's mom's life and the many others who fight against cancer. Ricky's mom is now a 10 year survivor. We started the day bright and early. The weather was a little chilly, but at least it was not raining. Here we are waiting for the race to start among thousands of people.
For the past 2 years, we have walked with the Spenos family. Here are Savannah and Alana enjoying there rides. This year, we were unsure if we would get to walk with the Spenos family or not. If you see the picture below, you can slightly tell Amy is slightly pregnant. Ha Ha! The day of the walk was Saturday and her due date was the next Monday. No one could believe she was actually going to walk, but she was bound and determined to get her labor started. Sure enough, come to find out she delivered a beautiful baby girl, Lillian, the very next day. All that walking must have helped. On a side note, Amy and I have been friends since the 6th grade. We both were pregnant with Alana and Savannah at the same time and they are 6 weeks apart and this time around we were pregnant together once again. However, this time I had a boy and she had a girl, but ironically they are 6 weeks apart as well. Savannah caught a ride on daddy's head for part of the walk. She would stroll some, walk some and then want carried for some.

I did not get a great picture of the kids shirts like I had intended to, but I kind of forgot. If you look closely Savannah's t-shirt says Find a Cure before I Grow BOOBS. I also ordered Austin one but since it was pretty chilly no one really got to see it. His said Save the BOOBIES. I thought these shirts were adorable and I will be sure to order another one next year as well.

Although the weather was nice, it could have been just a tiny bit warmer, maybe next year. We had a great time at the walk and cannot wait to walk again in another year.

Indy Zoo with friends!

This past Monday, since we were in Indy we invited the Vernon family to meet us and head to the Indianapolis Zoo with us. We knew Cary was on vacation this week and thought the kids would have a ball. We were either going to head to the zoo or to the Children's Musuem and since the weather was awesome outside we decided to head to the zoo and enjoy the outdoors. Are these 2 kids not the cutest things. They are so cute when we get together. I hope they continue to be the best of friends as the grow older.

A lot of the animals at the zoo were outside and playful. I think they enjoyed the weather just as much as we did. On this day particular there was a 40% chance of rain, however, it held off for us. It was like high 70's, maybe even 80 and the sun was shining.
We all headed towards the carousel, recommended by Savannah, and all got to participate and ride an animal. Austin even got to enjoy and have his first carousel ride.

At last we got to ride the train, recommended by McKinley of course. It is so funny and awesome at seeing how excited McKinley gets when riding and even talking about the train ride. Savannah and McKinley even sat by themselves for not one but two train rides. The 4 of us adults I think just enjoyed the moment of sitting and being able to relax for a few short minutes.

We had a great time at the zoo and could not have asked for a better day. We closed down the park and as we were leaving the rain started pouring. We got out of there at the perfect timing. As we continued to drive and the Semmler's headed towards Avon to pack up and head back to Terre Haute and the Vernon's headed towards Terre Haute we came across some really bad weather. What was supposed to be just bad storms turned into tornado watches with heavy heavy rain and even some lovely hail. All I could think of was my new car and nowhere to cover it. Thankfully, no damage was done. We ended up staying at the grandparents until the storms passed and then headed to Terre Haute and the Vernon's hit Plainfield for some shopping and dinner before heading home. Easter Sunday

This Easter was a success and a good time. We had lots of fun on this Easter Sunday. We started off by waking up early at Nanny and Papaw Semmler's house and yes the easter bunny found his way to us even though we were not at our home in Terre Haute. Here is Savannah holding her brother with their easter baskets from the grandparents.

On Saturday, we headed to Micheal's where you could decorate your own easter pail for FREE. Below is Austin's pail that Savannah and daddy decorated for him. I thought it would be cute to put him in it, he on the otherhand, was not so fond of the situation.
After our showers we put on our easter attire. I specifically got us all matching outfits so we could get a good family picture. I loved the kids outfits, they were adorable. These were the best pictures that we could get. Savannah was not wanting to cooperate that day to get her picture taken.This was the best family picture that we could get. Maybe we will try to get them professionally done here in the next few weeks. We will see how things go.

We then headed to Nanny's house for lunch with the family. My cousin's girlfriend's son happened to have an easter bunny costume and brought it with him. He dressed up and came to surprise the kids. Savannah loves the easter bunny and could never get enough of him. She absolutely adored him wherever we went and he was there. The Miller children were just as excited and were not afraid of the easter bunny. This picture is of all the grandkids. It was going well until Isaiah fell off the couch and landed on his head. I hope this does not scar the little guy of the easter bunny for the rest of his life.

The easter bunny then hid some eggs for the kids to find outside. It was such a gorgeous day, a great day for easter egg hunts. For dinner, we headed out to Ricky's grandparents house for food and another easter egg hunt as well. Here are some pictures of the hunts and the kids intensely looking and finding eggs with treasures inside. Isaiah and Austin were not too interested in the Easter festivities. They are still a little young. The girls loved every moment of it and it was a great way for them to wear off some energy. By the end of the day, Savannah was exhausted and went to bed early and slept all night. This last picture is well what Austin thought of the entire day. We had a great day spending time with one another and also getting to see some extended family members. Hope everyone had a good day and got to enjoy the lovely weather as much as we did.

Decorating Easter Eggs

A couple of days before Easter, we had to participate in some eggcellent Easter activities. We gathered our eggs and our equipement and dove into decorating our eggs. Savannah chose to do the sparkly easter eggs this year, mommy not so excited (due to the mess.) I am not sure who had more fun, Daddy or Savannah?

We had a great time and surprisingly Savannah did not make too much of a mess. She was pretty proud of her eggs. Here she is taking a look at them and let me tell you she did not put these eggs down for the entire night. She carried them everywhere she went. It was pretty cute. During this activity, Austin on the otherhand was not too thrilled. He slept the entire time. What a party pooper. JK. Maybe next year?
