At the beginning of spring we decided that we were going to buy Savannah her own playset for the backyard. So several weeks ago, we went to Toys R Us and made our purchase. At the time we did not know what we were getting ourselves into. This particular playground came in 4 boxes, that was it (or so we thought.) We did not know that each box contained thousands of pieces of wood to be put together. The instructions said it would take 8-12 hours to be put together. Ha Ha!
If you know Ricky, then you are probably wondering how we got this thing together. You see Ricky is not the handy man, so we had to ask our good friend, Luke. Well he probably is not our good friend now and when he sees our number calling, he won't pick up the phone anymore. Luke did a tremendous job in helping us and even taught Ricky a few things. Here they are working and you can see Bear was a huge help as well.
Here is Savannah testing out the floor boards. She was a little nervous being up there with no walls, but I guess the boards are sturdy, at least for 21 pounds.

We knew this was going to take work, but we were unaware of how confusing the directions are to read. The day we started we figured Savannah would be able to entertain herself while we worked, but boy were we wrong. She just wanted mommy or daddy to hold her. So we ended up calling Norma, our neighbor, to see if she would play with her for a bit while we worked. Norma ended up watching Savannah and her husband, David, actually came over and helped us. We appreciate having such great neighbors and friends.

It took us several different days onto work on the swing set and almost everyday we worked it rained at some point. After about 20 hours and lots and lots of help, we got her done. Savannah better enjoy this and get good use of it. At this point some parts are too big for her but I am sure she will grow into it. All her friends and family are welcome to come over and play at anytime.
The Final Project!:)
Now that we go outside and play in the backyard, Bear actually goes out there too. Here he is enjoying some rays and relaxing in the grass. Soon he will enjoy it even more. Our next project is to remodel the back deck. Stay tuned for the pictures of the old and new deck to come in the next few weeks.
Savannah loves the slide and even warmed up to the climbing wall. She would not even touch the wall in the beginning, but the other day Ricky was cutting grass and I was in the front yard and the next thing we knew Savannah was in the clubhouse section of her playset. After that it was downhill, now she is a climbing machine.

Her favorite part of the swing set, I would have to say is the swings. She could sit there all day as long as you are pushing her. She has 3 types of swings to choose from and she goes from one to the other as long as she can. So if you need something to do, come on over and have some fun with us this summer outside.
