March of Dimes

Okay so I am a little behind in blogging. Last weekend we, Savannah and mommy, adventured in another walk. Daddy had to work all day so he was unable to attend, although he really wanted to. We got up extra early and walked in the March of Dimes Walk in Terre Haute. Savannah was really grouchy that morning and did not want to talk to anyone, but after the walk started she fell asleep and slept almost the entire walk (5miles). She finally woke up when we were walking the last mile. She then wanted to play and laugh with her friends Elyse, Katie, and Mika.If you are unfamiliar with the March of Dimes it is for preterm babies and supports their care and health to survive. I realize that Savannah was born premature at 35 weeks, but we were lucky that she only had minor problems. There are those out there that are much more premature and have to stay in the hospital for months or don't even make it through. We are glad that we were able to walk this year, especially for our great friend, Marcy. Her daughter, Morgan, passed away when she was 3 weeks old 3 years ago. She passed unexpectantly and suddenly because she was born with S.C.I.D, Severe Combined Immuno Deficiency. There were no signs or symptoms that anyone would have noticed. There is a test that can be done for this when babies are born, however, it is not mandated. Of course, March of Dimes is the largest advocate for newborn tests and screenings, so we are hoping one day it will push for that test to also be mandated. We walk in memory of Morgan and will always hold her in our hearts. We praise and love Marcy for all she has done for our family and Savannah and wish her only the best in life.
